Why we collect data

We use your personal data in a manner consistent with the  provision of the veterinary service contract between yourself and Portmsouth Vets Ltd.

You can choose how you would like to receive these communications by post, email or SMS. Please call or email us at info@portmsouthpets.com if you would like to change how you receive communications.

What Information we collect

Title, first name, surname, address, email, telephone, pet details and bank details.  We may also at times collect alternative contact details.  This can be through online forms, hard copy forms, verbal instructions and CCTV.

How we may use this data

We will never share or sell your data without your consent unless required by law to do so. You are free to withdraw from reminder services upon request or choose your preferred channel for such communication.

When providing data to third parties, we only provide the data that is necessary to provide their specific service.

We use your personal data to

  • Provide care and communicate with you regarding your pet or accounts as part of our contractual services
  • For provision of information about other products and services available form the practice
  • Update you with changes to our services provision
  • Send you information on animal health concerns in the area
  • Provide reminder services such as vaccinations, parasiticides and appointments.
  • Share your data with banks and payment providers to accept payments for services and arrange refunds
  • Share your data with third parties managing health plans and electronic communications with you
  • Communicate with law enforcement bodies, government agency, court, credit reference and debt recovery agencies where necessary
  • Communicate with insurance providers on your behalf
  • Forward your information to third parties such as out-of-hours providers and referrals centres as part of your pets treatment plans
  • Forward your details to another veterinary clinic where you have moved service provision
  • Forward your data to laboratories and crematoria where appropriate

We retain data for as long as you are registered with the practice and a minimum of a further 7 years.

CCTV is retained for 30 days

Data Security

We protect your data by limiting access to those with a genuine business need to know it.  Information is secured within encrypted systems on cloud servers.

Local access is restricted to password protected systems
